What Is Drift Club's AI Readiness Score?

Drift Club's AI Readiness Score is a structured self-assessment that measures how prepared an organization is to adopt agentic AI into its actual workflows, evaluated across 6 dimensions rolling up into 3 stages of organizational maturity, producing a total score, an overall readiness stage, and a personalized priority area to address first.

How the assessment is structured

The assessment asks 24 questions, 4 per dimension, across 6 dimensions. Each dimension belongs to one of three broader stages: a Sensing → Seizing → Transforming progression drawn from the dynamic capabilities framework in organizational strategy, which describes how organizations first notice change, then act on it, then reshape themselves around it.

Dimension / Stage
Learning & Adaptation Capacity / Sensing
Team Effectiveness & Psychological Safety / Sensing
Organizational Architecture & Power Dynamics / Seizing
Strategic & Innovation Capacity / Seizing
Culture & Human Dynamics / Transforming
Data & Technology Foundation / Transforming

Notice that only one of the six dimensions, Data & Technology Foundation, is about technology directly. The rest measure whether the organization itself, independent of any specific tool, is built to notice change, act on it, and sustain new ways of working. That's intentional: an organization can have excellent AI tooling and still score low here if its culture, structure, or learning capacity can't absorb what the tooling makes possible. That's why this assessment is best understood as one specific application of broader organizational readiness.

From score to readiness stage

Each dimension is scored, dimensions roll up into their stage, and the total maps to one of five readiness stages, each covering roughly a fifth of the possible range.

The Priority Development Area

Beyond the overall stage, the assessment identifies a single Priority Development Area (the dimension where the organization is currently weakest) and uses that to generate a personalized explanation of what to focus on first. The explanation differs depending on whether that weak dimension is an isolated gap or part of a broader weakness across its whole stage, since those two situations call for different starting points.

How rigorous is this, really?

This is a structured, research-informed self-assessment designed to give an organization a genuinely useful directional read, not a validated psychometric instrument. The dimensions and stages are grounded in established organizational theory, but the specific scoring hasn't been normed against outcome data or validated through factor analysis the way a clinical or academic instrument would be. That's the right level of rigor for what this tool is built to do: give you an honest, structured starting point for a conversation, not a certified diagnosis.

How Drift Club applies this

The AI Readiness Score is typically the entry point at the Session tier: a fast, structured diagnostic that surfaces where an organization actually stands before committing to a longer Engagement or Partnership focused on the areas that matter most.

Frequently asked questions

Is the AI Readiness Score the same as an IQ-style or certified assessment? No. It's a structured self-assessment built for clarity, not a validated psychometric instrument; see the rigor note above for the honest version of this answer.

What happens after I get my score? You get an overall readiness stage, a Priority Development Area explaining what to work on first, and recommendations pointing toward the Drift Club services and resources most relevant to your specific gaps.

Does a low score mean an organization isn't ready for AI at all? No, it means the highest-leverage starting point is probably foundational (culture, structure, or learning capacity) rather than tooling, and the Priority Development Area will point to exactly where.
