side hustle

I write and play music as Kate Adams and one half of Mending.  I've been featured on WBEZ/NPR Chicago, The Chicago Mixtape and played at Chicago venues such as The Hideout, Uncommon Ground, Cole's, Cafe Mustache, Fitzgeralds, Lincoln Hall, The Green Mill, and various warehouses, basements, and art galleries.  In Mending, I collaborate with composer and musician Joshua Dumas; we make spare, pretty, and deeply weird song-things.  We've scored a short film, been featured performers at CIMMFest, have released a 4 hour 40 song cycle, centered around a speculative climate & social collapse narrative spanning 40 years (I promise it’s somehow hopeful!), and we’re currently working on the next iteration of this project (still weird, but dance-ier!). Mending projects are released by Drift Club Records, a small independent label which I also run.

I like to stay busy.
